Guidance in Setting Parameters

After entering the bond's basic characteristics—such as its maturity date, coupon rate, and call date—the next step is selecting the parameters used to construct the municipal yield curve and, when applicable, price the embedded call option.

Choosing the Most Important Pricing Parameters

Verification Example

As a check that the application is functioning correctly, select the Normal Treasury Rate Curve with the 10-Year Treasury Rate set to 4.25%. Next, set the Implied Tax Rate to 25% and use no additional Municipal Spread adjustment. Then value a 20-year municipal bond with a 5.00% coupon and a 10-year call provision.

The calculated Non-Callable Price should be 125.01, and the Callable Price should be 114.75 when using the default Black-Karasinski short-rate model parameters.
